1st Creek Regiment CSA! - Document Signed by Captain of the Confederate Indian Regiment
Probably in all your years of collecting you have never seen a Confederate Indian document.  This one written on blue Confederate paper, measures 7 ¼ x 7 ½ inches.  Here is the content:

                                           To Col. D. N. McIntosh

1862

Sept. 22nd           For 1 saddle for Expressman at $75.00           75.00

I certify that the above amount is correct and just the

article will be accounted for on my property return

for the 3rd quarter ending on the 30th day of Sept. 1862.

           1st Creek Regiment


Col. Daniel Newton McIntosh organized the 1st Creek Mounted Volunteers (Cavalry).  He was the Principal Chief of the Lower Creeks, and a member of the Creek Nation’s House of Warriors.  The Captain filling out this form was N. B. Moore who served in Company K of the 1st Creek Cavalry (Indian Territory).
