1st Conn. Heavy Artillery - Charles H. Whittelsey Pass

Whittelsey became a Brevet. Brig. General for gallant and meritorious service during the war.   This pass “Head-Quarters Sixth Army Corps, Army of the Potomac” is dated May 12, 1865 and passes Col. Otho H. Binkey of the 110th Ohio Volunteers “thru the picket line and return this day”.  Six years later, Whittelsey, who had become a Captain in the regular army fighting Indians, died at Fort Bridger, Wyoming.
