THE FINEST ORIGINAL SOLDIER'S LETTERS AND ARTIFACTS

118th Pa. - Paroled Prisoners of Company F Form - Captured at Wilderness,
Confined at Charleston, Andersonville & Florence

This descriptive list for pay and clothing is signed by Captain John L. Bell, Company F of the 118th Pennsylvania – the famous “Corn Exchange” regiment.  The form is filled out for John B. Erb, who was captured May 7th, 1864 in the Wilderness battle.  The nice thing about this document is that it specifies that he was held at Charleston, S.C. (December 11, 1864) and also Andersonville, Ga. and Florence, S.C.  A desirable document since it mentions the infamous Andersonville!  Two other captured prisoners are also mentioned.  The form is dated June 8th, 1865 from “Camp Parole Annapolis, Md.”  Condition: some separation at folds, but a fine collectible for the 118th Pa. or the P.O.W. collector.
