This form, on a printed “Headquarters, Defenses of Washington” is dated February 4th, 1863. The barer Rufus B. Amsden had been wounded at the Battle of Antietam on September 17th, 1862 and had just been released from Carver Hospital. Now he has a chance to go see his family.

Of course what makes this form so great is the enormous signature of Drake De Kay. Condition is fine.
