CDV Capt. Edwin A. Tuthill 104th N.Y. Vols. – Captured at Gettysburg
This seated shot of Edwin A. Tuthill, Company A of the 104th New York Volunteers, shows him as Lieutenant. Tuthill was from Nunda, Livingston County, New York. On the reverse of the CDV in pencil is written, “Lt. E. A. Tuthill Nunda, N.Y.” The Civil War Database shows a standing view of Tuthill. The I.D. is rock solid.

This CDV sold on eBay 19 years ago. The standing view that the seller also showed has Tuthill’s exact signature in ink on the reverse. Tuthill was captured twice. First at Manassas on August 29th, 1862 and imprisoned in Libby and then again at Gettysburg when he went to Macon, Ga. and Columbia, S.C. (as shown from the National Archives Records).

The CDV is in fine condition with unclipped corners, good definition and not faded. There is a revenue stamp on the reverse. A nice CDV for the Gettysburg or 104th collector. If interested, we also have an actual autograph page from Libby prison that Tuthill signed… call for more information.
