Amazing Set of 102nd O.V.I. Band Photos

This set consists of a large 5 ½ x 11 inch albumen photo mounted on a 9 x 11 ½ inch mount showing the 102nd Reg. O.V.I. “Silver Cornet Band” WITH ALL MEMBERS OF THE BAND I.D.’ED IN PERIOD INK BELOW THE PHOTO.

Besides the large albumen, this set includes a wonderful CDV of the 102nd O.V.I. Band playing on top of a large house in Decatur, Alabama!  The band was playing a memorial concert to Abraham Lincoln on news of his death

The large albumen has wonderful contrast… not faded at all.  There are many faults, stains, etc.  The mount could be cleaned by our professional conservator, but the photo has such wonderful “character” as it is, it is just really a treat to look at!

We know that there are other copies of this image, but this is the only one that we know of that has all the band members identified!  The image was made from two separate photographs placed side by side, as they didn’t have wide angle lenses back then.

The CDV has excellent contrast and shows the 102nd O.V.I. band on top of the McCormick House in Decatur, Alabama.  (One news paper article that we found said this was the “McEntire House”… so we will let you Decatur, Alabama people decide which it is.)  The CDV is in excellent condition.  We will show you an enlarged shot of the house which you too could do for the makings of a wonderful display.
